All of our exterior walls are 2X6 to take advantage of modern framing techniques and to increase insulation. We sheath the wall with a breathable fiberboard and wrap the house in a water barrier that keeps the water out but allows moisture from inside the house to escape. The effect is like a Gortex jacket that keeps the rain out and the heat in but allows the house to naturally breath.
